YMPTAT 30th anniversary!

October 06, 2018

A lot of our alumni, teachers, and students have came all together today to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our department. Established in 1988, our department has come a long way from launching undergraduate program to graduate, from 4-year to 6-year DPT program. We have grown, and will keep growing!

Happy 30th anniversary to out department, YM Physical Therapy and Assistive Technology!

ps Prof. Wang and Prof. Yang have been the dean of our department from 1997 to 2005, and from 2009 to 2015, respectively.

New rooms for our lab!

September 30, 2018

Thanks to the reconstruction plan of our department, we now have more rooms for our research settings!

We used to have a General Office (637-1), Clinical Assessment Unit (626), Basic Experiment Lab (627-2, 629), and Exercise Training Center. Now, we have two more rooms for clinical assessment and trainings (612, 613)!

Invited speech: Dr. Wei-Li Hsu

We invited Dr. Wei-Li Hsu today for our department seminar. Dr. Hsu is currently the associate professor of Dept. of Physical Therapy in National Taiwan University. She finished her undergraduate and MS program in our department and then received her PhD degree in Biomechanics and Movement Science Program, University of Delaware, followed by 2 years of postdoctoral research experience in Institute of Neuroscience, University of Oregon. In 2009, she came back to Taiwan and started her career in NTU.

Today, she shared her career in physical therapy with us. With her outgoing, adventurous, and enthusiastic personalities, she challenged herself with a diversity of research interests, including stroke rehabilitation, biomechanics, balance disorders, exoskeletal devices, and etc. She encouraged us to dare to challenge ourselves, to learn from mistakes, and finally to become the person we truly want to be.

Invited speech: Dr. Yun-An Tsai

We invited Dr. Yun-An Tsai today for our department seminar. Dr. Tsai is currently the attending physician of Dept. of Neurosurgery in Taipei Veterans General Hospital. He specialized in spinal cord injury rehabilitation, neurophysiology and electrophysiology. He has been a long term research partner of our lab, taking part in many of our research projects.

Today, he delivered a speech on the them of "Restoration of walking after spinal cord injury." Starting from the neurophysiological base of SCI, to the current project of exoskeletal system for ambulation, Dr. Tsai walked us through the whole picture of development of  ambulatory training in patients with SCI.
